FPO: FARMER PRODUCER ORGANISATION: PROMOTION AND SUPPORT

We work towards building a sustainable agriculture sector by promoting and supporting Farmer Producer Organisations. This enables farmers to improve production in the agriculture field, which in turn improves the income in the agriculture. To enhance both agricultural productivity and income financial resources from various centrally sponsored and State-funded schemes in the agriculture sector agencies are being used. This goal is being achieved by creating a coalition of partners by the concerned promoter body, involving civil society institutions, research organisations, consultants, private sector players and any other entity which can contribute to the development of strong and viable producer owned FPOs.

Transitioning to more sustainable forms of agriculture remains critical, as many current agriculture practices have serious consequences including deforestation and soil degradation. But despite agriculture’s enormous potential to hurt the environment, it also encompasses boundless potential to heal it. Realizing this, many organizations are promoting regenerative agriculture as a way to not just grow food but to progressively improve ecosystems.

Various organizations across the nation are helping the FPOs. It includes names like NABARD, Government Department, Ministry of Rural Development’s Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana- National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM) are few of the many organizations associated with it.
