Watershed work
Karangarh & Bhawandih

Watershed development in drought-prone villages

JVSI served as the executive agency for a NABARD-sponsored watershed project launched in 2007 in Karangarh & Bhawandih, Chakai Block, Jamui. The project introduced water-conservation structures and supported changes in agriculture, water availability and livelihoods.

Khaira Watershed

Stored water supporting crop resilience

The Khaira watershed project, sanctioned by NABARD in 2016, covered eight villages and focused on renovation of water bodies, new ponds and farm bunding. The website content reports that stored water helped farmers support paddy and Rabi crops even during periods of scarce rainfall.

Project area

Dharampur, Chihutiya, Bhojpur, Kairakado, Daingarwa, Kewalphariata, Amarwa and Jhundo; total watershed area cited as 1,150.52 hectares.

Backyard poultry and producer organisation

JVSI’s website content describes a poultry farming and producer-company initiative supported through NABARD’s Producers Development Fund. Backyard Poultry Producers Company Ltd. was registered in 2016 and organised members around production, input purchasing and market access.

Skill development

Training turned into livelihoods

A two-month mobile-set repairing programme trained 30 students in rural Chakai-area villages. The success-story content records trainees who went on to start earning through mobile repair work.
