ABOUT US

As an organization, we believe in the power of a catalyst and the role it plays in bringing about sustainable changes. We envision ourselves, playing that role in creating sustainable livelihood opportunities! The aim is to provide not just a livelihood source but also a path to dignified life for these communities who otherwise have always been struggling for both a medium of income as well as respect and recognition for their hard work.

This however can not be achieved in isolation. Therefore, we are of the view that this mission can be accomplished only by engaging collaboratively and meaningfully with various stakeholders in the system. In collaboration with multiple stakeholders,we connect with the community aiming for their empowerment.

Our goal is to make every individual self-sustainable in the long run and therefore our initiatives, from the very inception, involve continuous engagement with the beneficiaries from project inauguration to end.

Organisation Work Brief:

Jamui was separated from Munger district as a district on 21 February 1991. Just after four years of its inception, Jan Vikas Samiti Itasagar, established in 1995, started working for Jamui’s development. In Bihar, Jamui emerges as the largest migrant sending district of the State. Lower level of urbanisation, joblessness, naxalism, lack of sustainable alternative job opportunities, landlessness, drought coupled with social backwardness in the district has made it the main out-migrating area.

JVSI has been working on all these issues aiming for holistic development of Jamui especially in the six blocks namely Khaira, Chakai, Laxmipur, Sikandra, Jamui and Sono, since these are most backward areas.

Jan Vikas Samiti Itasagar (JVSI) has been initiated by a group of volunteers aspiring to develop livelihood opportunities for marginalised communities. Their primary aim is to act as a catalyst for change and bring about sustainable means of development which counters the problems of joblessness, migration and poor agriculture. For this JVSI has taken a holistic approach and is working in all the domains revolving around a farmer/migrant worker. Few of its initiatives are as follows:
